Reference Acoustics was established in the late 1990’s to consult on and design bespoke products and solutions for companies and manufacturers in the audio industry in South Africa. These included design of loudspeakers, equipment stands and cabling for various brands.

The business expanded and we added upgrading and rebuilding or refurbishing of classic and collectable turntables to our portfolio.

Due to our passion for vinyl, in 2016 we decided to design a range of high-end turntables and accessories for turntables that would be manufactured by ourselves in South Africa. Production started early in 2019 with two turntable models, the “X-Act” and the limited edition “X-Act Basic”. At the same time we also launched two models of record cleaning machines.

In 2021 the “X-Act Ultra” turntable was launched.
